Waste-to-Energy-Plant Brescia (A2A)

In 2022/23 Agrotecnica International provided a complete package of receiving, storing and pumping dewatered sludge for the waste-to-energy plant of Brescia (A2A). It’s an expansion of “Linea 1” delivered by Agrotecnica in 1997 (still in operation after a revamping in 2015).

Sludge arrives at the plant by truck, which discharge into receiving bunkers where a sliding frame and an screw conveyor carry the sludge forward. A coarse msterial separator upstream of the piston pumps removes impurities from the sludge. The two piston pumps (40 m³/h each) transport the sludge to the storage silos. From the silos two piston pumps (Flow rate of 20 m³/h each) carry the sludge to the three furnaces of the waste-to-energy plant.

Pumps for the transport of dewatered sludge

Pumps have proven to be extremely effective for transporting dewatered sludge. For this, Agrotecnica has been using different types of pumps for years, which it purchases from manufacturers with many years of experience and expertly integrates into its overall system.

Coarse material separators

To prevent pumps from being blocked by coarse and foreign matter a coarse material separator is often a necessity that pays off in the long run.
A lot of damage and maintenance work can be avoided with such a machine.

Sludge passes through the rollers. Foreign matter is conveyed laterally to the discharge hopper.

Chain Conveyors and Bucket elevators

To transport dried sludge to a silo a chain or bucket conveyor is the way to go. It consists of a closed or open trough in which runs an endless chain of conveyors (or buckets). These conveyors push the material through the trough, causing it to move.
